The Color Black
Black is the darkest color. The color black does not emit or reflect light in any part of the visible spectrum. It absorbs all frequencies of light and is the absence of light. It can absorb negative energy and protect you from any negativity in your environment.
Black is a negative color. It represents negative energy and negative space. It is the color associated with the most pessimistic and negative character in the Winnie the Pooh stories. The depressed Eeyore that sits beneath the dark raincloud following him wherever he goes in the Hundred Acre Wood. It depicts his projection of his negative thought life and self-talk.
Black is the color of secrets and lies. It is the color related to the occult, the hidden, secretive world of the unknown. It is the color of the handwritten records containing the names of people who hope the little black book never sees the light of day. It is the color ninjas, assassins, secret agents and bank robbers wear to conceal their identity and be inconspicuous. It the color of the darkness in back room deals, closed door talks, the underground, the things bought and sold on the black market. It is the color of black ops, deep cover and going dark. It is the color of things under wraps like settlements, pay offs and cover ups.
Black is a power color. Black can feel intimidating and unapproachable. It is the color of the robes that judges wear who have the power to make your life a living hell or sentence you to death. Black is the color of the global elites’ personal security detail, the Secret Service and Men in Black with their black suits and black sunglasses. It is the color of the armored and window tinted, black SUVs and luxury vehicles of world governments and their intelligence communities.
Black is a control color. It is the color of controlled environments like dark rooms where film is developed. It is a color that holds the energy of control through fear like blackmail. Being ‘in the black’ means you are financially sound, in control of your finances. ‘Black Friday’ is the day companies make good on their investments and begin to make a profit. Being in the know and not sharing means you are holding all the cards and withholding information and leaving everyone else in the dark. This intimidation factor can prevent open and honest communication. Vows of poverty and celibacy in submission to God by priests in black robes or nuns in black habits.
Black is a professional color. It is the color professionals wear to work in every white collar profession to close deals and make money hand over fist. It is said that the salesman wearing all black can make lots of sales, but no friends.Black is a classy color. In the fashion world, a trendy color is referred to as the ‘new black’. It is the color that VIPs wear to formal events like ‘black tie’ events, the exclusive charitable auctions, dinners and grand balls of the rich and famous. It is the color of the must have elegant ‘little black dress’. It is the color of limousines and a favorite choice for luxury cars. You wear black if you want to look good and feel confident about your appearance. You want to be seen as sophisticated and distinguished.
Black is a mysterious color. The hidden depths of the soul. The woman in black. The intrigue of a seductress dripping in black lace. The dark and sensual alter ego of the black swan. The dramatic cat eyes and dark brows drawn with black eyeliner worn by painted ladies walking the street at night. The black holes and dark areas in deep space that hold the secrets of worlds unknown.
Black hides a multitude of sins. Black is flattering. It can cover fat, mask flaws, conceal lumps and minimize lumps and bumps.
Black is the color of disapproval and condemnation. The person with a black soul. The odd character on the outs with his tribe is called the ‘black sheep’ of the family. Potential members are excluded from gentlemen’s clubs when they get blackballed and others are blacklisted when excommunicated. You are singled out for a dare or chosen to take one for the team with a black mark.
Black is a sinister color. The dark horse of the Apocalypse. The black flag of thieving and murderous pirates. Black thoughts premeditating the evil of the black hearted. Black magic performed by witches in black hats and the black cauldrons where they brew their poisonous potions. The superstitions surrounding black cats and the black mass in which the devil is summoned. The dangerous and deadly femme fatale dressed in all black. The violence perpetrated by men in black clothes and black ski masks. School shootings carried out by menaces masquerading in black trench coats and boots. Drive by shootings by gang members in black hoodies. Assassinations carried out in silence by ninjas dressed in all black under cover of darkness.
Black is a rebellious color. It is worn by young people who want to make a statement and be cool. Black eyes are sported by tough guys who get into bar fights with bruisers. Johnny Cash with his outlaw image was known as ‘the man in black’. The black leather jackets and pants are worn by bad asses, Hell’s Angels and rebels without a cause. The completely black Gothic fashion style including black nail polish, black lipstick and dark eye makeup is worn by dark and twisted souls who are fascinated and obsessed by death. It is the color associated with the defiant ideology of ‘no fear’.
Black is the color of endings. It is the color of mourning. The final curtain call at the theater; the ‘FADE TO: Black’ before the ending credits at the movies. It is the color of death and the end of youth.If your favorite color is black, your deepest desire is to have power and control in order to protect your anonymity from exposure, breaches in privacy and the revelation of emotional insecurities. You hide your own true potentialities and don’t disclose your inner resources to others. You might want to hide your true identity or rebel against your family or society. You may want to give the impression of being dignified, sophisticated and elegant. You may want to give the impression of being mysterious.

Black is your comfort color because it allows you to retreat from the world. It represents a restful emptiness that makes room for your infinite potential and makes way for limitless possibility. You may be clearing your energy after spending a lot of time with other people and their stuff. You may be adrift, having lost your direction in life and are going through a very dark time. You may be going through a difficult time like grief or a serious illness. You may be trying to heal your inner being yourself without interference from others.If you wear all black it means that you are too serious for your own good. You have repressed secret needs and desires. You have a need time for reflection and space for inner searching. You might wear it to be or remain inconspicuous.
Too much black can be energy draining. It can cause depression and create a negative energy in your environment. It is best to combine it with other colors. You need to lighten up and add a touch of other colors to your wardrobe and outfits. When you do, black enhance the energy of the other color.
If you wear black it means that power and prestige is of paramount importance. It means you have great inner strength. It means you are independent and strong-willed and determined to be and do and have whatever you want. You like to be in control of yourself and any situation you find yourself in. You may be extremely conservative and modest. You may be denying yourself pleasure and joy and suppressing your own desires and aspirations.
